Yes Odile! You are correct about the origin of the word ‘wiki’. Thanks for your input, I trust that this is the first step to gaining confidence with using ICT for learning in the classroom. Keep tuned for the first meeting of the Hawaiin club next week.

Welcome to the Hawaiian Club!!!!!! Congratulations on taking the first step to becomming more ICT savvy! You may be wondering about the connection between Hawaii and ICT. Here is a hint, identify the origin of the word Wiki.
It is widely recognised that emerging technologies used as learning tools to engage students enhances their learning experiences. However, with the ever increasing use of ICT as a communimcation tool, there is also an expectation that as teachers we are able to continually challenge and meet the needs of our students in this area.
This is where the Hawaiin Club comes in! Representatives from the club will meet weekly, during lunch time in the LLLC. Becomming a member of the club will provide you with ‘hands on’ opportunities to create blogs, wikis and more for the purpose of promoting positive learning experiences in your classrooms.
For interest sake, this blog has taken me less than 10 minutes to create , so it’s only a skeleton of what it may become!
The next step: Be Brave! make a comment about this posting! You may even like to share your answer to the question about the connection between Hawaii and ICT! Your comment will be sent to me (behing the scenes) and providing that you’ve said nothing inappropriate for publication, I will ‘accept’ your comment and it will be uploaded. You can access this blog at any time from any computer!
I look forward to your comments! Keep tuned for more details about our first meeting. Take a moment to click on the embedded Teacher Tube clip about digital images!
Regards,
Jo Wastle (on behalf of Alan, Lauren, Marty and Lousie who will also be working with us!!!)
